Anticipation is a beautiful thing. Sometimes, it’s even better than the thing itself.
Last year, my friend Steph and I decided to organize a trip for ALL our canadian friends to go to Cinque Terre…a beautiful coastal hike in Italy. To get everything ready, we had a Facebook message going, and the night before we left, everyone was exchanging messages, joking around and being downright ridiculous. I couldn’t stop laughing, and all I could think was “this trip is going to be amazing”. The trip was amazing, but I feel like the height of my excitement was the night before, seeing everyone’s messages, and anticipating how much fun that weekend was going to be.
I also LOVE the anticipation of seeing a friend who is coming home. One of my best friends, Sarah, goes to school in British Columbia, so I only get to see her on holidays. I haven’t seen her since Christmas, and know that she’s coming home in a couple of weeks now. and I am SO EXCITED! Don’t get me wrong, there are other friends I haven’t seen in that long, and I miss them, and I can’t wait to see them. But there’s something about anticipating finally seeing that person who you absolutely COULDN’T see all those months.
Finally, I’m anticipating SUMMER! Just 9 more days until I can lie in the sun and get a tan, barbeque to my heart’s content, have picnics in the grass and frolick in the woods til my feet give out. I CAN’T WAIT!
